Nike Taiwan Footwear is seeking to fill the following position:
Country Chemical Engineering Manager
***Please note this position is located in Vietnam***
As our Country Chemical Engineering Manager, you'll manage a team of Chemical Engineers and set team/individual goals that are aligned with country, department and functional goals. You'll coach and mentor staff as well as plan and collaborate with HR for their individual development. You'll make hiring decisions, drive performance management, recognition and rewards. You'll develop a team structure that facilitates and maximizes individual and team performance. You'll lead and inspire the team to develop, innovate and implement progressive chemical processes and standards. You'll implement defined functional standard protocol and lead chemical engineering work in product creation that will help to elevate product through the use of new technologies and processes. You'll oversee assigned chemical engineering related project work to completion, keeping a high level of focus on work which will be applicable and impactful to future commercialization efforts. In collaboration with Development teams, Product Creation Centers and offshore manufacturing teams, you'll ensure that product creation projects meet deadlines without chemical issues. You'll be an active member of the functional management team working closely with Regional Chemical Engineering in developing a short and long term agenda for the function. You'll champion new chemical engineering technologies both internally and externally. In addition, you'll work with the local team and the Regional chemical team to cross pollinate in the development of best practices and implementation of new technologies.
Qualifications
Requirements for the position include:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and minimum of 10-12 years' directly relevant work experience, preferably in the footwear industry
- One of the following alternatives may be accepted: Degree in Polymer Engineering and other related sub-specialties
- Experiences in other related industries like tires, polyurethane, plastics manufacturing can be considered
- Strong motivational, leadership and team building qualities demonstrated in a product creation/development and manufacturing environment
- Possesses strong understanding in all facets of product creation to include design, development, research, engineering, materials, and manufacturing
- Proficient problem solver with an innate ability to deal with ambiguity
- Ability to lead multiple complex projects at one time and prioritize work according to potential impact; with agility to switch priorities as circumstance requires
- Demonstrated skills at leading teams of highly qualified and specialized individuals with diverse expertise and nationalities
- Must possess a strong customer focused, collaborative approach to work and give clear direction to team members and factory partners
- Effective project and resource management experience with a proactive approach to team specific issues
- Fast learner and possess a strong work ethic
