FFI China Chapter Distributes Gifts To Typhoon Victims

The China Chapter of FFI distributed gifts to victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng at Malanday, Marikina last December 30 2009. Proceeds from the recent Golf and Bowling Tournaments held in China, has enabled the group to set aside 120,000 pesos to buy the necessary groceries and food items which were distributed to 120 families in both Malanday and Tumana, Marikina. Cecille Peralta was tasked to buy the grocery items while Jojo Dancel was tasked to source out the rice. Annie Remigio sourced out the plastic bags where the items were placed prior to distribution. Last December 29, 2009, a group of volunteers started repacking the food items. The group that came to lend support during the repacking includes – Juliet Bautista , Annie Remigio and daughter and sister in law, Flor and Aron Cabasan, Malou Boado ( wife of Diony Boado ), Jojo Dancel and Juliet’s househelper. Sergio Ramos was the one who printed the ticket stubs and came out with the list of families that will be given the gifts.

On December 30 2009 morning, the group composed of Juliet , husband Bong and daughter, Jojo and wife Rose, Cecille and husband Nomer plus 3 helpers loaded the goods to a rented van and drove from Juliet’s residence to the residence of Kagawad Narciso de la Cruz in Malanday where the gift giving took place. People were already seated on the courtyard of Kagawad de la Cruz residence when the group arrived. A short speech was made by Juliet explaining to the people our association, where the funds came from to buy the food items. Joy can be seen on the faces of those 120 families when we started giving out the bags. The gift giving lasted for about an hour – all ticket stubs accounted for.
